BIO
Mateja Kovacevic is born in Zadar, Croatia and grew up in Sweden. Educated at Åsa collage streetdance program in 2013, and has since then been working with dance, community organizing and education.
She has traveled to learn more about different dance coultures in Marocco, France, USA, performed in Palestine and found her love for Afro-cuban dance in Cuba, where her interest for the occult and mysticism started to grow.
Mateja is also educated in Creative Dance, Performance & Live art and together with her passion in working with community based artforms, she creates artistic frameworks for her, her students or the audience to participate in. Her inspiration comes from the art of the occult, community work, but foremost from her former students in Gottsunda Dance & Theater.

Started as a summer job for Mateja's students who wanted to be heard through dance and wanted to try out the profession as a dancer.
Together with choreographers and coach / business developers from Drivhuset, the participants learn to create choreography and their own brand or company. Dance your business is a method developed by Mateja & Marvil Iglesias, based onwork around integrity and performance lectures.

THE HIPHOP SYMPHONY 2018 - 2019 Artistict director & dancer.
5 streetdancers teamed up with 55 musicians from Uppsala Blåsarsymfoniker, led by Leif Karlsson in a performance that pays homage to hiphop music in a musical time travel. The dancers mix personal stories about different types of encounters and cultural clashes. Which meetings separate and which unite? A sold out artistic culture clash.
KURAGE PERFORMANCE LECTURE 2018

How has it affected us as individuals and as a group? A glimpse of reality that is brutal, unfair, true and above all comprehensible.
